PLEASE READ DESCRIPTION THOROUGHLY! LOOK AT THE PHOTOS! This sale is for a new dual shaft, dual flywheel, flat can motor upgrade kit for Athearn blue box diesel locomotives. This motor kit will work in the following Athearn blue box diesel locomotives. EMD hood units, GP9, GP35, SD9, SD45, SD40-2, SDP40, DD40, GP38-2, GP40-2, and GP50. EMD cab units F7A, F7B, F45, FP45, Alco PA, Alco PB, Fairbanks Morse Trainmaster, and all GE U series hood units. No modifications to the chassis are required. This kit will replace the early Athearn motor, flywheels, and universal couplings. This motor kit WILL NOT FIT in the early EMD and Baldwin switchers or the late model EMD SW1500. This kit WILL NOT fit the early Athearn models with the Hi-F rubber band drive. This kit WILL NOT FIT the Athearn AMD 103. or GE Dash 9. The DD40 will require 2 motor kits. This motor kit is designed for the older blue box versions of Athearn diesels with the early motor, not the newer Athearn or Genesis models. The newer Athearn and Genesis models have improved motors, and they do not need to be replaced. The Life Like Proto 1000 and 2000 series diesels have a look alike Athearn chassis and motors, however, these are an improved version of the Athearn motor, and they do not need to be replaced. If you have any questions, please contact me before purchasing this kit. This may save you the hassle of returning the kit. The new motor is a heavy-duty dual shaft design with very high torque; it has a 5-pole skewed armature. The motor measures 30mm long x 24mm high x 17mm wide, there are solder terminals on the rear of the motor for electrical connections. The motor shafts are 2mm in diameter and are 4mm long. At 12 volts DC with no load, the motor draws 40ma and develops 8100 rpm. The stall current at 12 VDC is 1 amp, this motor is DCC compatible. This motor will run smoothly on 1 volt DC, and it is very quiet when operating. The flywheels are 16mm in diameter and are 13mm in length. The flywheel shafts are19mm long and 2mm in diameter. This motor kit will provide smooth low speed operation and reduced operating noise. If you have any questions, please contact me before purchasing this kit. This may save you the hassle of returning the kit.The motor kit consists of 1 dual shaft flat can motor, 2 flywheels, 2 flywheel shafts, a length of flexible coupling,1 motor mounting pad, hook up wire, and illustrated installation instructions. The 2nd photo shows the contents of the motor kit. What you see in the 2nd photo is what you will receive. This is an easy kit to install, installation time is about 2 hours. This is an unassembled kit.The first photo shows what the motor kit would look like installed on an HO scale Athearn EMD blue box version F7A chassis. This photo is for illustration only. PLEASE NOTE: The chassis shown in the photo IS NOT included with the motor kit. Note to international buyers: eBay determines the rates for international shipping, not me.
