Ford 4.0 V6 OHV Valve Cover Reinforcement Clamp Rings Ranger Explorer 90-00

These custom CNC cut steel rings fit over the stock 4.0 OHV V6 OEM Ford valve covers found in many Explorers, Rangers and Aerostars. They provide reinforcement and even clamping pressure to help stop the common oil leaks that the thin stamped sheetmetal OHV valve covers are prone to. These are the perfect addition to any job where the valve cover gasket has to be replaced or they can be added after, however, it is highly recommended to install these while installing new gaskets. These replace the small load-spreading tabs found at each bolt hole with a solid 1-piece ring. These are not a fix for a damaged, cracked or rusted valve cover. Sold in bare metal as a pair with hardware. This allows the buyer to customize their

color choice with spray paint or powdercoat of their own liking. A few examples of painted rings are shown in the photos. See last photo for an example of the bare steel rings you will receive. The steel may contain slight surface blemishes or roughness from the various sheets of steel these were cut from. Does NOT include gaskets or valve covers, only the bare steel rings and new hardware are provided. Hardware installs with an Allen wrench (for the studs) and common metric socket or wrench (for the nuts). Follow proper torque procedures from a shop manual. Each ring is checked for proper fit on an actual engine over an OEM Ford valve cover however, due to manufacturing tolerances of the valve covers, slight grinding may be required. Removal of the spark plug wire clips from the valve cover may also be required to fit these tight-fitting rings over the valve covers. Do this before if you plan to powdercoat them! These ONLY fit the Ford 4.0L OHV V6 engine and not the smaller liter engines or SOHC engines. The 8th character in the VIN will be an "X"
